Product Line Lead - Risk Management Solutions


Our client, an international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services, was searching for a product line lead. The company has been active in Romania for more than 15 years, with hundreds of employees countrywide. Iventa initiated a thorough search in order to identify best-suited candidates for the product line lead role of the client’s exciting, innovative and highly effective risk management suite of products. The specificity of this role was that its responsibility was spanning over both Romanian and Hungarian markets where the company is strongly represented. An additional challenge of the project was the fact that the role had no benchmark on the local market and hardly any history at a European level.

Method

For this project, the research team chose a direct approach to candidates, using headhunting as the main tool and therefore aiming to find only the best-suited candidates in an efficient and timely manner.
Since the open role did not exist elsewhere and no other company offered similar services, a survey was conducted of the two relevant markets in order to identify industries that might use the same set of skills and consequently identify suitable candidates.The direct search returned a small but relevant number of candidates who were evaluated not only in regard to their technical expertise but also regarding organisational fit, their ability to deal with regional responsibility, cultural sensitivity as well as their ability to work both independently as well as in close cooperation with the sales organisation.

As this position had no European benchmark an unexpected challenge was explaining the candidates the role and its integration within the other services the company is offering. As the level of expertise was rather high among, the candidates requested a large amount of detailed information which we were able to provide on the basis of the close communication we maintained with our customer during the entire project.

Results

The success of the project relied on two pillars: the “out-of-the-box” approach of the research and consulting team as well as the unconditional support received from the customer throughout the process. Through this approach we were able to help our client fill the open position.

Our client is one of the leading international companies in the field of metal processing and machining, operating a factory with 200 employees in Znojmo. The client contacted us after experiencing unsuccessful cooperation with a couple of regional personnel companies which were unable to find a suitable candidate for the client. Understandably the client was quite sceptical at the beginning. Originally there was only one open position for us to work on. However, the customer was very satisfied with the quality of the potential candidates and the speed of the whole process and therefore decided to open the search for other positions.

Methods

The initial search in this case was difficult not only because of the location, but because of a very specific candidate profile. The position required high technical know-how in the given field, excellent sales and presentation skills, long-term experience in a similar field, and a high level of competence of a foreign language.

In order to find the right candidates a mixture of Executive Search, Search and Selection and Online Advertising was applied.

  • Thorough and detailed identification of target companies
  • Identification of suitable candidates working in these companies
  • Online Job Advertising in the Czech Republic
  • Searching potential suitable candidates in our own internal database

The direct addressing was done discreetly and suitable candidateswere shortlisted. After consulting with the client, interviews were performed in our office. The overall candidates’ reaction to the presented open position was very positive. The client decided on one of the candidates after the final presentation. The candidate was able to leave their current employer earlier than expected through mutual agreement. 

Results

We were able to gain the client’s confidence for long-term cooperation within a short period of time thanks to dedicated and consistent care, the right identification of his needs, and continuous monitoring of a changing corporate structure that optimized the ongoing process.
We succeeded in placing four candidates with this company within one year. The positions included two specialists on the middle management level and two managers on the higher management level.
