Online assessment in the construction industry

Method

Iventa conducted a selection process for a key managerial position within the construction industry where strict requirements had to be met. Selected candidates from competitor companies went through in-depth interviews verifying their professional background as well as soft and managerial skills. Our pre-selection of candidates led to final interviews with two most suitable individuals. Both managers were high profile professionals with strong sales and managerial backgrounds.

The final decision when choosing the right candidate is usually a combination of objective and subjective factors that the HR manager or company decision maker recognizes. To support objective selection we used the psychodiagnostic tool PERLS. This online assessment  includes both personal aspects and performance testing. The tailor-made test observes  three main fields: strategic thinking, leadership style and sales approach. Based on the results of PERLS we conducted a personal interview with the candidates in order to verify the results and to find out more information . Therefore we get a sound picture of both of the candidates and could provide our client with a well-founded basis for their decision.

Result

Last but not least, the online assessment PERLS used as a support tool helped to show whether the candidate would fit in the company culture as well (leadership style and sales approach). From our experience we strongly recommend our clients to apply PERLS as an additional tool in combination with in-depth interviews and reference checks.
